be patient but be persistant, make sure you get copies of all of your medecial records, and keep 2 for yourself, talk with your insurance co and make sure they have all info they require, and if possabe get the info to them yourself, sometimes you have to do the job for other people, play an active roll in your approval process afterall its yours. :0)

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

listen and take notes, bring along someone so if you miss something, or missunderstood they can help you remember.

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

The pain from my ruptured back, and the added weight after back surgery, and now I cant be as physically active as last year, and I would like to feel like a young woman and experance life as a thin person, its always only been as a fat person.

My husband and 2 girls are very supportive, and very helpfull to me but my mother inlaw, at first said it was going against GOD, until I pointed out she had a stent in her heart and what about the hysterectomy she had and anyother surgeries, or med issues MDs help us with, and she backed down and realized how silly she was being, especially now that I am post op.

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

MY stay was 3 days, I feel the hspital was a bit understaffed, and I had to keep reminding nurses, when I was out of water, or needed help to the restroom. THey didnt put the machine for my legs up in a cabinate during the day they justkept stumbling over it, and stepping on cords. I didnt need the oxygen and I told them to turn it off and they just left it on with the nose pieces laying over the chair, I would have gladly gotten my water or ice but I wasnt permitted too.

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

NO problems at all, the surgical staff and resident doctors were great.

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

I couldnt believe it was finally here, I have been waiting for 6 months, and preparing both mentaly and physically. I had great faith in GOd that he led me to this to help myself, and he would see me through it,saftly, and I had a good positive mental attuide.

We stopped at crackerbarrel and my family ate and I drank water, I walked in my yard, we went to walmart, my 3rd dayhome we went mushrooming(my incession is from my breats bone to my belly button). I have been doing lite housework, and basicaly going on as life before, jut more drinking water and my eating habits, the more you walk, stretch and move, the better you feel. I have been laying on my sides since my 2 day home.

I use to love eggs but each day I am getting to the point were I almost cant stand them. I sip 12 oz of cold tomatoe juice or V8 daily for the extra vitimins and my body seems to yearn for it.
