Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

My weight was a rollercoaster. Continuing up and down. Never stabelizing.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Prevent's me from doing thing's with family and freind's.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I am able to work again and stand on my feet for 8 or more hour's. I can walk and walk without getting winded or worn out. Now family member's have to keep up with me.Instead of wait on me.

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

T.V. advertisement. Sounded to good to be true so wanted to check into it for myself.

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

I had no problem's with Insurance approval, My Dr's office took care of it for me. Never spoke to insurance at all.

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

My visit with my surgeon was very knowledgeable. He answered all my question before I even asked.

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

Prayer in our Lord that he lead me to this available tool.

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

Studying through obesityhelp.com and messaging with other patient's.

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

I really had no fear, as I felt lead by the Lord to have this surgery and I new I was in his hand's first and formost.

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

My family and freind's were very supportive. I receieved no negetivity.

How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?

Did'nt work at the time.

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

My stay was very good. Staff treated me very well. I was only there 2 days and released

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

My sugar went low and they had to give me sugar.But it only lasted a few minutes and I was back to my self. I just got extremley warm and dizzy.

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

I felt very good. Was lucky no pain or anxiety.

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

My scar is very long. But it has lightened up a lot. Yes I was expecting a big scar.

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

Yes I have had some plateau's. But I believe them to be my own fault as I eat what I want when I want. I have lost 153 pound in 8 months.

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

People treat me very differently. I now exist among them. They no longer stare at me when I am in public place's. I can go to the grocery store and not have some child say Mommy look at that fat lady.Gentle men accually hod the door's open for me now.So much more.
