Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I hated my weight went round in circles. eat get fat get depressed eat get fat get depressed

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The way people treat you. People act like you are not really a person.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Play with my kids. And now I Have a new baby, I have been trying for 15 yrs to get pregnant. Now I have a beautiful baby boy

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

My ex-hubbys, x wife had it done. I always said no way would i do that it is for lazy people

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

I was very lucky with the insurance. they aproved iin less then 48 hours

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

It was very good I liked him he was straight to the point and did not mess around. No sugar coating. The best thing you can do is write out a list of things you want to ask. Be prepared to hear things you might not want to hear.

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

My doctor told me I would be dead in a year if I did not lose weight and stop smoking. I was only like 33 years old. I wanted to live.

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

I did research and looked at what I thought would help me best.

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

I was afraid I would die, with or with our the surgery. So I figured I wanted a chance to live. No surgery no chance, so I had the surgery

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

My husband was very supportive at first, then after wards he left. My daughter and my dad very supportive. Two other peolpe in my family have had the surgery now.

How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?

I was only out of work for two weeks at the most, They were very good about it. I am not a good lier so I just told them I was having WSL surgery.

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

Nothing very lucky

What side effects (nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbace, dumping, hair loss etc.) were worse for you? For how long after surgery did they persist? How did you cope with them?

The only thing I have is I cant vomit, still to this day. I want to sometimes but cant. I have been very lucky nothing really bad

What was the worst part about the entire bariatric surgery process?

divorce

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

yes people are very different. people that never talked to me before are wanting to be my friend now. And men who did not even look at me would not speak to me now just want to "LOVE" me now.
