Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I ate when I was bored, lonely or any time I just liked to eat

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

not bein able to play with my kids and being tired all the time

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

see my toes, walk around the block and not be tired, play with my kids at the park and not have to sit on the bench

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

my dr asked if I had ever heard of it he said he doesnt usually bring it up but his patients ususally do I thought I was in real trouble if he was bringing it up

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

was pretty easy to get approval

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

have your questions written down so you will know what you want to ask

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

wanted to lose weight and be able to take care of my kids and feel better

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

dr. didnt do lap band at that time

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

I was afraid that I would die or get sick and not be able to take care of my family. I thaought about how I was not the best mother I could be at the weight I was

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

my hubby was all for it kind of nervous though

How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

The stay in the hospital was ok. I was there for 3 days.

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

Describe your first few weeks home from the hospital. What should people expect from this period?

I was very tired. just try to take it easy and concentrate on yourself

How far did you travel to have your surgery? (If far, how did this affect your aftercare?)

What vitamins and/or dietary supplements have you taken since your surgery?

calcium, b12, mutivitamin, and for the first 6 months actigal

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

support group once a month

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

6 little scars on stomach yes

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

Im 9 month out and am eating about 3-4 ounces a meal and exercising but not losing much
