My first meeting with my surgeon was a little bit nervous because I thought he would say that he was unable to perform my surgery. Write down all your questions that you think of and ASK! The more information you have about the surgery the better you wil feel.

My blood pressure was too high and I had to start being treated for it. I had never had an issue with it and I didn't want anything else to go wrong with my health.

B12, multivitamin, calcium, and iron.

What side effects (nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbace, dumping, hair loss etc.) were worse for you? For how long after surgery did they persist? How did you cope with them?

I would say felling nausea was worst but it only lasted with the pain medicine. I was given medicine to help. Another issue I have now since surgery is acid reflex which I never had before so you may want to ask about it with your surgeon.

What was the worst part about the entire bariatric surgery process?

Feeling like you can never eat again. I know it should be a good thing when you are overweight but it can be an emotional roller coaster.

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

There is a support group once a month at my local hospital which I will be attending and they give out helpful things, the only bad thing is they only meet once a month. It's important to reach out to people that have gone or are going through the same thing you are.

I have 6 scars and I did expect them.

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

I do not yet, hopefully in the months to come they will.
