Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

Weight has been a issue since I was 16 years old. I would always go up and down with my weight. Then when I started having children and or problems in my marriage, I seem to put on more weight. Didnt help that I became a Chef and always around food! I have known about Bariatric surgery for some 13 years but, that's when they made those long ugly scars and I thought it was to much to go through to be thin but two of my bestfriends went through it. I look at at them has our frontier woman to todays Roux-en-y er through Laparoscpic. So now that I would get a few small scars verse the very long one they got to be thin (and major surgery for for my two bestfriends). I AM FINALLY READY to have the surgery! WooHoo

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing always having to pay extra for my cloths Always out of breath Not being able to kept up with my family when we are camping. and the list goes on!!!!!!!!!!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

getting on my horse without the help of a stepping ladder, blending odown and getting up without help, crossing my legs. Feeling like I have balance finally!

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

13 years old my two bestfriends Lorna and Jeanette had the surgery when they open your whole front side to do a new procedure call Roux-en-Y. Then they had to wear a gurdle for 6 weeks. and no lifting for 6 mos. This was a major surgery back in the day. There was no way I would put my body through that. But now with Lap happening, I am more than willing to go forth and be thin like my two bestfriends!
