Obesity & Me

DEPRESSION IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY.

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

A FRIEND OF MINE HAD IT AND AT FIRST I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE I COULD LOOSE THE WEIGHT ON MY OWN BUT AFTER YEARS OF TRYING TO DIET AND 5 DAYS A WEEK AT THE GYM THE WEIGHT WAS NOT COMING OFF SO TO BE HEALTHY I FELT THAT I HAD TO DO SOMETHING.

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

FOR ME I DID NOT HAVE ANY TROUBLE WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY BUT FOR THOSE THAT DO I WULD SUGGEST THAT YOU KEEP TRYING AND DON'T LET NO BE THEIR FINAL ANSWER.

DID NOT WANT TO LOOSE THE WEIGHT TOO FAST SO I WAS HOPING THAT BY GOING WITH THE LAP-BAND AND GOING TO THE GYM I WOULD BE ABLE TO REDUCE SOME OF THE EXCESS SKIN.

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

REALLY DID NOT HAVE ANY FEARS. MY SUGGESTION TO PEOPLE WHO DO HAVE FEARS MAYBE DO NOT NEED TO GO THROUGH WITH IT.

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

MY HUSBAND WAS FINE WITH MY DECISION AND THE REMANDER OF MY FAMILY I DID NOT TELL THEM UNTIL AFTER THE SURGERY.

How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?
