Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

What I didn't realize was how important relationships are to our weight gain/loss. I am in a relationship that I do not think is going to make it. I have promised myself to never, ever again be in a relationship with a person that has not dealt with addiction. I used to believe the things i was told and I'm not going to take what is said at face value anymore. I have to scrutinize my role and improve all aspects of myself. Dang it if isn't a ton of work, but i'm worth it.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The hatred others show. The sneers and snubs and belittling behavior. To me, its about being a good weight for my body. I currently have trouble walking, diabetes, high blood pressure, and feel crappy about who I see in the mirror. I don't want that reality anymore.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I wont have my surgery until the fall.
