Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

i wasa so fat that i didnt fitr in the tub i used to enjoy taking long bubblebaths sexwas a chore ,i used to wonder if id be able to keep breathing that long. when you cant quite reach your buttfor hygiene reasons not counting hypertension sleepapnea severeosteoarthritis with torn acl s in both knees the pain was unbearable everyone said walk,,, you'll lose the weight yeah rigbht

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

peoples comm4ents physicalpain from sitting,standing lasying walking doing dishes laundrynot being able to sleep without a cpap hypertension

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

energy sleep without amask on my face stamina forsex,and other thuingsbeing able to do a sink full of dishes without having to take a break because my back hurts

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

icant remember where i first found maybe al roke4r but i went to site and groups iread medical journals

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

i had mainecare they were really good they did want some addl. info from my psychiatrist but them seemed realistic questions

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

imet the p.a. first he was reallky nice he did alot of the poaperworkto be sent to the surgeon then you see the surgeon.ask ask ask any and all questions even if they seem stupid many of us have many so-calledstupid quesationthat were actually very valuable

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

ive tried almost every diet plan out therer i always wound up on the up and cycle till i topped310 ileft the docters officeand decided chocomacadamia nut cookie dough woiuld somehow helpmy pants (size 28w)were now tearing at the seams so i knew id gained even more Iwas surely headedtoamiserableslowfat induced death.

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

the hospital teams were wonderfull i have never felt so helpless iun my life the nurses cared for physically and boosted my morale

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

ihad gottenaslight case pneumoniua in my lower lungs it required 3 more days reallky wasnt a big deal the nurse caught it before it could have beenbad

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

i was totally extatic i couldnt believe it was going to happen. i wondered if i deserved it then i thouyght about the 1%mortality rate i let my loved ones know i understood the risks but they were verymuch the sme if i kept going the way i was

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

i had laporscopic rou-en-y so i havevarious small1inch scars 3 circles from the drain tubes and theg-tube.iexpected muc worse not bad at all he even used that new superglue stuff no outre stales or stitches
