03-29-2000 Last week I had to spend overnight in my local hospital to undergo tests because I have continued to have shortness of breath, fatigue, and generally feeling not well. After scans of my lungs, x-rays, ABG's at rest and exercise, plus other uncomfortable procedures, it was decided my asthma was out of control. This was due to not having been put on adequate doses of my regular meds after surgery. Irritation of my lungs due to the long surgery. My family doctor had previously put me on a Medrol dose pack for a week. I had felt better, but still could not walk about in my home without nearly fainting from lack of air. Now I am on a two week course of a heavy dose of cortisone. I must say after just a few days, I feel so much better. My weight loss is at a plateau of 279, but I have edema from the cortisone. I expect after I finish the course of therapy on April 6 that I will start loosing again. I am just glad that I can breath again, that I have no blood clots, and I am feeling better each day. will update in a week. Poddy

I have been worried sick about you. This is my first time at doing this angel thing and I hope I haven't agrivated you to bits. Last I talked to you was you were heading out to surgery. Bet your glad it is all over now hu? Would love to heard form you. Last I heard until tonight was when I talked to your hubby Sam and he said you were disappointed cause you planned on going home that day but spiked a fever. I tried again later to reach you but was told you were not at the hospital and yet I got no answer from emailing you. I hoped you were home but just not feeling up to being back on line yet but yet, not hearing from you or the family, I worried that I was failing at this new job of mine. After several days of contemplating wheter to call your son 9the only home number I had) or not, worried that I might be beign too bothersome, but yet not being able to quit worring about you, I decided to risk it and call. PRAISE THE LORD! ! ! GREAT REPORT! ! ! They say you're doing great and that your mother is visiting you. Well Poddy, if you read this, congratulations on a successful surgery, hope you're feeling great and tell your mother I said she has one very sweet daughter. Write me when you get to feeling better OK. Oh, and don't forget to tell me how many puonds are gone forever. OK

Best of luck to you on Monday and hope you have a speedy recovery. I am a fellow Ketuckian also and am pre-op patient. Also I am a nurse who got out of nursing because of my weight problems. Will be keeping you in my prayers and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Good Luck on your surgery. It was the best decision I ever made concerning myself. I'm a fellow ashland resident, 5 months post-op, 92lbs lighter and feel better than I have in 10 years. I am also a nurse and was finding it increasingly difficult to do my job. No more. from your info our spouses work for the same company.

Poddy, I am a fellow Kentuckian (married to military guy). I will be having surgery the same day you do. I shore miss the hills. I will be thinking of you and will see you on the other side.
