I had an open RNY on 8/16/00. My beginning weight was 469. I have lost
148 pounds in 15 weeks and I can eat small amounts of absolutely anything.

My daughter had her lap RNY in January. Her BMI was 65 and she needed to
lose 250 lbs. She had a completely uncomplicated surgery...operating time
one hour...and has lost 170 lbs to date. A key factor is the experience
and expertise of the surgeon. Best wishes!

Hey, I think it all depends on your surgeon preferece as well as your BMI.
He would know which surgery is best for you and your body. But your input
would also play a part in the decision. It's your body...I think that
probably the RNY or DS would be fine. But again, I'm not the surgeon =)
Talk to him and discuss your options...Hugs~

Adjustable gastric banding is another option for you. There is lots of
information about it at www.thebandsters.com and at the support group
called Bandsters, which you can join at
