Question:
Has anyone had quick results when having all things ready at first visit ?
I had a 29 year detailed diet history & five years of weights and medical history along with my letter from my pcp.Has anyone else had all this at first and if so how long was the wait. — Terri H. (posted on September 30, 2000)

I had everything ready for my first visit in April but the insurance
approval didn't come through until the beginning of August. I did use the
time in between to get my sleep study and cardiology clearance that the
surgeon requested.

Terri, I had my first visit on May 1, 2000 and had open RNY on June 23rd.
Like you I had done my homework and went in with all paperwork. I had to
lose 25 pounds and when that was almost done my doctor put me on his
"1st available" list. When one of the other patients backed out
of surgery I was put in her slot. Best thing I ever did!
Good luck and hang in there!

I went to the mandatory seminar my surgeon gives with all my paperwork
completed and all bases covered, down to my own letter. The only thing
that held me up (about 1 1/2 weeks) was my primary doctor's letter of
referral. When the surgeon's office received that, they faxed it to my
insurance company and I was approved THE NEXT DAY -- I was shocked! Prior
planning and preparation made all the difference for me!
