I have UnitedHealthcare and I got back my first appeal was deny. Now I sent my 2nd but I was told don't matter how many appeals I write that they are all going to be deny what to do some one help me please don't know what to do next Daisy    — Daisy G. (posted on August 19, 2003)

Hi Daisy! I have UnitedHealthcare also, and both of my appeals have been denied due to written exclusion, as well. I am setting up an enrollee hearing, and I am filing a grievance with my state insurance commission. I feel that their reasonings violate my civil rights by singling me out as an obese person, while providing coverage to drug addicts, and it is discriminatory against the small businesses, who don't even have the OPTION of enrolling in a plan where obesity surgery is medically necessary. I am currently working with one of my state's senators to come up with a bill to pass in Missouri requiring insurance companies to pay for this. It still may not benefit me, but at least maybe it will make it fair for others. Good luck, and don't give up because that is what they expect you will do. Fight them to the end!
