Question:
How long are you to weight after eating before you can drink?
I can't remember if its 1/2 or 1hr. 1/2. — Snowflake_Princess (posted on July 21, 2003)

My Surgeon told me 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after you eat a meal.
And also to sip very very slowly.

My surgeon says 1/2 hour before your meal and 30-40 minutes after. Good
advice. Reason: They say you can fill your pouch (new stomach) with water
if you drink before eating and you will not be able to eat appropriate
amounts for proper nutrition. And they say if you drink too soon after you
eat, you wash all your nutrients away. This is NOT good. You want to be
healthy as well as thin. Follow your doctor's instructions if you want
this to be an overall success. Good luck to you. (Open RNY 10/30/02 175

As you can see, the answers vary. There is not alot that this community
and the surgeons agree on. There are those who stop drinking 1/2 hour or
less before meals (I stop about 5 min before I eat) and those who wait from
15-1 hour or more after eating (I usually do about 40 minutes or longer).
But its definitely not 1 1/2...
