Question:
What type of foods and/or recipes did you eat for breakfast.
I'm 1 month 14days post-op. Needing to know what things other people are eating for breakfast. I've ate half a scrambled egg topped with cheese. Other than that I've just been drinking a protein drink. — Snowflake_Princess (posted on April 14, 2003)

At your stage I had scrambled eggs, oatmeal, cream of wheat or grits with
cheese. I also ate unconventional foods for breakfast like tuna and
salmon. It was at about 6 weeks that I got where I could no longer
tolerate eggs and now, 16 months later, still can't.

Loits of mornings I eat lorraine swiss. Its yummy while low fat and all
protein, May have some ritz crackers with it. I almost never ate breakfast
before WLS, but got in this habit to get my protein in. Found it lessens
cravoing later in the day.

Just breakfast,I eat 1 scrambled egg w/ cheese, cottage chesse,
yogurt, cereal, buttered toast, english muffin, bagel or just plain
fruit(like this morning I ate fresh fruit salad & ice tea) Most people
are like myself, we have a handful of foods we eat for the protien and
toleration and alternate them everyday. Always pick the lower fat w/ high
protien.Good luck! 6.5mo post-op open rny lost 110#

I have had the same breakfast just about every morning since I was about a
month or so post-op, and I am now 14 months post-op. A pure protein
breakfast is the best way to start the day and I find that if I do this I
don't get hungry again until lunch time. Its 1 scrambled egg with melted
provolone and a tablespoon of veggie chili on top. Can't believe I'm not
sick of it yet!

At your stage in the process, cottage cheese or scrambled egg was all I
could tolerate. But, now at 10 months, my routine breakfast is: a slice of
wonderful, chewy multi-whole-grain bread, toasted with an ounce of swiss
cheese melted on it. After about a half an hour, I follow this with 4
ounces orange juice, 2 ounces water and some ice, mixed with a scoop of
Vanilla Ice Cream flavor-Optimun Whey Protein (tastes a lot like an
"Orange Julius"). This produces a protein-loaded (30+ grams),but
balanced start to my day. I have breakfast while I get
ready for work between 04:30 and 06:00, and it keeps me well-satisfied
until lunch at about 11:30.

Trisha, I often will do the egg thing as well, but sometimes get sick to my
stomach from it after a while. My body alwasy needs changes! You don't have
to think of breakfast as the normal egg and cereal kind of thing. How about
a club sandwich? I use 1 slice turkey, 1 cheese, 1 bacon and 1 bread and
it's more than enough. Or a deli roll-up. Use deli turkey or chicken and a
slice of cheese and roll it up, that's especially good if you're in a
hurry. Hope this helps!
