Question:
After RNY are you able to continue Low Dose Asperin Therapy ?
Doctors say one low dose asperin daily reduces your chance of heart attack or stroke. Am I able to continue this after the RNY Surgery? — Michael K. (posted on January 12, 2003)

My surgeon says NO aspirin at all. But if your doctor has you on it for a
specific reason then get the doctor and the surgeon to decide what's best
for you. If you are just doing it yourself for prevention purposes, talk
with the surgeon. Mine said that the weight loss would do me far more good
than the aspirin.

I have an elevated c-reactive protein which has remained high even with
weight loss. So, I am on a childrens dose of asprin for that also. I take
the 81 mg, in the enteric coated form. This is what I was instructed to do
by my surgeon. HE said that I have enough gastric acid to make that work.
He does not recommened enteric coatede for any other medications though.

My surgeon's instructions for post op included 3 weeks of aspirin 81 mg to
help prevent blood clots. I had no problems taking it. Follow your
surgeon's instructions on this one.
