Question:
Have you seen a place for detailed fitness training?
I joined a gym, and between my wife and myself, it's $56/mo. I can't afford the other $800 they want for a personal trainer. Have you seen a web site that has some detailed information, as far as what type of exercises I should do, how long to wait between, and how often etc. — Ron E. (posted on July 16, 2002)

If you are paying for the gym they should have people who work there to set
you up on a program. I have never been a member of a gym that didn't have
that service as part of the fee. I recently joined the YMCA and they give
you two orientations and set you up on a program. You talk about what
machines to use, how much weight to use, how many sets, etc. and they
develop a chart for you to keep track of everything. There are web sites
out there for everything, so I'm sure there is one for this subject. I hope
someone else has one they an share with us.

I can understand not wanting to pay even more for a trainer! I joined a
club a couple of years ago and I knew nothing about all those big bulky
machines. Being the researcher I am, I went to the library and got a few
books about the nautilaus machines. They were really helpful! I had to
decide what areas I wanted to work on and then I made a chart so I could
keep track of how I was doing. I wish I could remember the names of the
books I read but if you look in the card catalogue (or on their computer)
under "Nautilus" there will be quite a few to chose from.
Also I did a search and found some info on-line. It was so confusing at
first, but after a while I got comfortable with the place and actually felt
like I knew what I was doing. BTW - my club didn't have any kind of
orientation either.
Good luck - I loved going after a while. and would have kept it up but for
financial considerations.
