Question:
Is the surgery failing for me?

I am 9 weeks Post-Op and have only lost 30 lbs. I am getting enough protein and drinking plenty of water and exercising and the scale just won't move. What am I doing wrong? Am I failing at this too?    — vmize (posted on March 15, 2002)

Well... I have never lost almost 15 pounds a month for two months straight as a pre op... I would say you are doing GREAT!!! It is very normal for the weight loss to stop so that your body can catch up with that loss... Don't worry... Stay off the scale... and let Mother Nature take her course... I wish you the best... A post-op Jo :-)

I started at 254 and my surgeon told me to expect to lose 20 the 1st month and about 10 the next several months. So at 9 weeks 33 would be just right for me. Also, I noticed many posts about people hitting a plateau around 6 weeks that lasts for 3 weeks.

Vicki: You're doing great! I know very much that you want to lose a lot quickly. I am the same way. I read posts on this site all the time about people losing a hundred pounds in three or four months and it floors me. I try to remember that we all lose at our own pace. God Bless.

Vicki, I know just how you are feeling. I to, seem to be a slow loser. I'm at 10 weeks post-op and down 35lbs., so just hang in there. I've been told our bodies have to catch up with our weight loss and then it will start coming off again. Try measuring. I was so depressed a week ago I measured and who and behold, I'd lost inches. Good luck and God bless! Diana
