Question:
Will this prevent my upcoming surgery?
I just had an endoscopy and they found gastritis plus moderate to severy esophagitus(spelling?). Will this prevent or delay until cleared up? I would think that surgery would reduce the stomach acid that caused this. — Nancy L. (posted on December 5, 2001)

This is a question for your surgeron. We can only guess. He or she will
make that final decision

I suffered from gastritis and acid reflux for years prior to my surgery.
During the RNY they cut the nerves in the stomach which produces the acid.
Therefore, I don't have the reflux as I did before. My thinking is that
this is just more proof that you need the WLS in that due to your weight
and the added pressure on your abdomen, you suffer from gastritis. Good
luck!
