Question:
For the last 2 days in the late afternoon I have been experiencing severe pain above

my belly button area. This happened a few weeks ago and I asked the question gallery and got a response about possibly a hernia. Well it is happening again. I feel real gassy, and the pain is enough to double over. I think maybe it is the coffee that I drink in the afternoon around 4 this pain is happening around 5:30-6 when I got home both days I took a double dose of tagamet and I started feeling better just real tender in that area. My question is does this sound like an ulcer and could coffee cause this. I have been drinking about 2-3 cups a day for the last couple of months. Today I am not going to drink any and see if this happens again. I didn't call my Dr because the pain let up after about an hour. I am 7 mths post op.    — susan V. (posted on November 14, 2001)
