Question:
Am I loosing fast enough? Help?
I started out at 320, I am 2-1/2 months post op and have lost 50 pounds. Isn't this abnormally slow? I drink my water, watch my fat and carbs and I've been walking for 20-30 minutes 5 days per week. What else can I do? Also, so days I can eat more and am hungrier than other days??? I am scared that this procedure isn't going to work. — Margaret B. (posted on August 6, 2001)

Your weight loss does slow down. 50 Lbs. Lost in 2 1/2 months is amazing.
Have you ever done that before? I too have noticed there are days I
actually do feel hungry, then there are other days I could totally forget
to eat because I don't think about it. It is very important that you
"re-train" your mind to not think of food all of the time. You
are doing very good so far. I was not very far off from that mark at 2
months. I think I sat at 55 Lbs. for almost 2 weeks. Feels like eternity
when your used to seeing a couple of pounds a day. Keep up the faith...you
are doing fantastic. You go girl!

KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING. EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN PACE AS TO HOW MUCH
WEIGHT THEY WILL LOSE AND AT WHAT TIME IT SHOULD TAKE TO DO SO. SO HANG IN
THERE. YOUR DOING GREAT. AND LOOK AT IT LIKE THIS HOW MUCH WEIGHT WOULD YOU
HAVE LOST IF YOU HADN'T HAD THE SURGERY?

I read somewhere on this web site that the average weight lose is 30% of
your excess weight in the first 3 months. So, I would say 50 pounds in 2.5
months is pretty much right on track. But, it can't be said often enough,
everyone loses at their own pace and 30%/3 mos. is just an average. You
are doing great and I can only hope that I do as well when it is my turn.

I'm 3 months post op. My highest weight was 319. I was 314 a month before
the surgery but my offical weight at surgery was 305. So we are in the same
range. I lost 32 pounds the first month, 13 the next and 11.5 this month.
In my case I have'nt got alot of walking in mainly due the the extreme heat
we have had this summer. Unless your walking is done before 7 am or just at
dark, forget it. I love to walk and will as soon as it cools some. But
anyway I have'nt got alot of exercising in, and yes there are some days I
can eat more than others. There have been two days that I was hungry all
day which worried me alot. I'm also scarred it is'nt going to work for me.
But when my emotions screw with me I look at it this way (from my top
weight) I want to lose
190 pounds and get to 129. Well I'm at 248.5 as of yesterday. So although
I'm not losing as fast as I was, I'm still losing. It seems I lose 12-15
pounds the first two weeks of every month and then stop with no loss the
next two weeks. It scars the bejeppers out of me. It seems we all lose at
different rates and what is normal for one person is'nt for another one.
Anyway you are the exact weight I was at 2 1/2 months so you are not alone.
;) Hang in there! We'll lose it yet! ;) This is the one time in my life
that I love being a "loser". lol
