I think it will depend on whether you have Lap or Open. I know I was not allowed to drive for at least 2 weeks. Best of luck

Hi Jennie!!! I am also a school bus driver and I had my lap rny on 12-27-00 during winter break. My doc released me to return with no restrictions at my two week post check up. However I did not have ANY problems or complications from the surgery and needed to return for financial reasons. I am not eligable for disability yet as this is my first year driving with my school system. I was told that I could have taken the full six weeks if I wanted to because this was major surgery but I was not able to take the time for personal reasons. I did not even need any pain meds after the second day home from the hospital. I am sure though if I had had the open procedure that I would have had to take the full six weeks.
