Question:
I am self-employed and looking for an individual policy that pays for WLS.
I am self-employed and single. I am my only employee. Does anyone know of an insurance carrier in Texas that pays for WLS and allows for an individual policy as opposed to group? Email me please at: [email protected] — Danny K. (posted on February 24, 2001)

Check with your Chamber of Commerce. After having gallbladder
surgery(about 6 years ago) with no insurance, my husband and I decided we
could no longer "not afford insurance" and went through them.
They put you in a group of other people from the chamber so you can be the
only employee at your company and still get the insurance. Ours is a BCBS
policy that paid for all of both of our surgeries after we had met our
deductable and out-of-pocket expense maximum for the year. That is
something that we always did by the first couple months of the year before
surgery because there was ALWAYS something wrong with us. Hope this
helps.
