Question:
Can anyone tell me about how long the hospital stay is after either surgery?

I was in the hospital six days after my open rny distal in April. Don't
know if I really needed to be there that long, but I was well on my way to
recovery by the time I went home & am now glad I was there that long,
although I was REALLY ready to leave then!

My daughter and I had our lap RNYs this year. We had surgery on Tuesday
and were discharged on Thursday. I returned to work in 8 days; she was
back at work in 14 days.

I had open RNY on a Tuesday, went home the following Saturday. Would have
gone home on Friday but developed "withdrawal" symptoms from my
Paxil, they kept me an extra day to stabilize that problem.

I was in the hospital for 10 long stir crazy days. 5 in the surgical ICU
and 5 on the regular floor. I think my surgeon was extremely cautious even
though I did not have complications.I just had a higher BMI and I was one
of his heaviest patients . I had a distal RY and still complication free.

I am 7 weeks post-op today from an open distal RNY. I've lost 60 lbs
(includes 3 weeks of pre-op medifast).
I had my surgery on a Thursday and was home on Saturday evening.

I had my surgery on Friday morning and went home Monday morning. I had an
open RNY and I live three hours away from my surgeon.
