Question:
Has anyone had WLS with him?
I was hoping to see Dr. Gagner, but since he dosent have any appointments till January, I am having my consultation with Dr. Pomp. Has anyone had their surgery with him? I would like to hear about your expierences please. I am thinking of getting the Lap DS. — [Anonymous] (posted on November 7, 2000)

I had surgery (DS-LAp) with Dr. Pomp on Aug 4, 2000. I have nothing but
the highest words for his skills and compassion. I would recommand him to
anyone and would be glad to talk with you privately if you wish.

My step father had surgery with Dr Pomp about three weeks ago and is doing
beautifully. I had it with Dr Herron on August 21st. Ive had NO problems.
I can tell you this: Dr Gagner is the tops. He chose these men to work on
this team with him and they are highly qualified. Also, according to my
family, Dr Pomp is caring, loving and an extremely generous man. Good luck
to you.

Melanie,
I had my surgery 10/6/00 with Dr. Herron who was assisted by Dr. Pomp. I
never met him, but I can tell you my surgery was 6 1/2 hours to keep it
Lap. and I am doing well!
Hope this helps.

Hello. Your question could have been written by me! I too wanted to make
and appt. with Dr. Gagner originally because his was the name I kept seeing
on the DS website. But I had also been corresponding with a lady who had
Dr. Pomp for her surgeon and had nothing but the highest praise for him, as
a surgeon and as a person. So when I called for my initial consult and was
told I would have to wait forever for Dr.Gagner, I immediately asked them
to book an appt. for me with Dr. Pomp. When I met him at the end of
September, I knew my friend was right. I was his last appt. of the day and
he stayed to talk to me at length even though it was his wife's birthday,
and he was taking her to dinner! I felt very assured with him. He told me
that he used to work with Dr. Gagner in Canada, and when Dr.G was opening
this Lap surgical WL center at Mt. Sinai he called Dr. P and asked him to
join him. Dr. P is a Lap surgeon who does WL surgery. Not a WL surgeon
who had to be trained to work Lap. I think you are much better off with a
surgeon who's career has been as a lap surgeon because they have
familiarity and comfort with the lap tools. And, like someone else said
here, Dr. Gagner chose his team based on their superior skill. My surgery
date with Dr. Pomp is 11/29. And since there are always 2 surgeons from
the team on every surgery, you (and I) may have Dr. G in the room working
on us as well. Best wishes. If you want to email me about anything at
all, I am [email protected].
