are antibiotics a part of post op care? is a antibiotic included in your pre

Antibiotics are included in care. Most physicians don't do pre op
antibiotics, but some do one large oral dose the morning of your surgery.
Most don't because they are not bothering your large intestines with RNY.
Post op and intraop you get Ancef IV. It's a broad spectrum IV antibiotic.
We use it all the time with our post op open hearts. It's given every 8
hours. You should not need to come home on any antibiotics, unless there
are problems. Good luck to you.
