Question:
I'm having 150cm bypassed. I'd love to hear from others who have had
around this same amount bypassed. How much do you have to rely on supplements? What kind of foods are you no longer able to tolerate? How has the weight loss been? In all of my research it seems that there is a big difference between the people who have had a lot bypassed and those who had more of a restrictive surgery. I'm just trying to find out what I can expect after surgery. Thanks for all your input! — Terry M. (posted on August 26, 2000)

I had the same amount bypassed. My surgery was may3 I was 278 I'm now 214 .
I'm pretty sugar intolerant and dumping is no fun , so I read labels very
carefully. I take 2 one a day vitamins and 2 calcium sups , and try to take
2 protein supplements daily. I eat pretty much anything . Can't eat steak
yet , it just lays there. I haven't lost any hair or had any major
problems. If a food I eat makes me gassy I chew some beano , but no real
problems with gas or diarreah. Freshly post op I was on liquids for 4 weeks
and still took my vitamins and calcium. I made my own broth before I had
surgery to make sure it would be nutrient rich. I hope this helps you. Feel
free to email me if you need further information.
