Question:
I'm 6.5 months postop, down 98 lbs, but haven't lost anything in one month .
I do exercise (walk) daily, drink water, take extra protein, but I seem to be able to eat most anything, just in small amounts. I do stay sugar free and low fat. Any suggestions on getting the weight moving again? I have 70 more lbs to lose! Thanks! Charlene — charlene M. (posted on February 13, 2000)

Hi Charlene: You're in exactly the same place I am! I had my open
proximal RNY on 7-29-99, and have been hitting plateaus since just a few
weeks after surgery. The longest lasted over a month, from about New Years
until about a week ago. I walk, I drink my water, protein supplements, try
and eat right, and I've decided it's just the way my body is! One thing I
have discovered is that eating after dinner is a no-no. I've always been
an evening snacker, my stomach or my brain always decide that I need
something at about 9pm. When I do give in, I try and make it protein,
either a shake or an egg or something like that. I've been trying my best
to just say NO, but it's tough! I've lost 93 pounds, though, and feel
great! Good luck with your continued weight loss. We're almost to the
'100' mark! Hang in there. Jaye

Hi Charlene...I too am 6.5 months postop and haven't lost anything in the
past month (until this morning) when I finally dropped a couple. I have
lost 90 pounds tho and only had 100 to lose so I guess I'm getting down to
the nitty-gritty of the loss. Everytime I've ever lost weight the last
10-15 pounds were the hardest. If you figure out what we can do to
jump-start the weight loss again, let me know. I'm glad to know that I'm
not the only one! It's really disappointing tho after all this losing to
completely stop! Take Care, Vicky
