Question:
What happens to your tattoos after surgery?
I know your skin will shrink some but will it deform the tattoo? Mine are on my arms located on my biceps. Will I need to have them removed because of my skin shrinking? — Carl R. (posted on July 8, 1999)

I have a tattoo on my calf, quite big. As I gained weight it also grew.
I've now lost half of me and my tat is alot nicer looking. It got smaller
but its not deformed, or anything

Carl,
This is an excellent question! I've never thought of it, but I have an
expensive tattoo on my shoulder that I just got a year ago. Guess I don't
really have too worry too much about shrinkage, there, though.

My tatoos are no different. They have become lighter form the stretching of
the skin, but the shrinking has not changed them at all. I would not have
them removed until I saw how they looked. The arms are one of places that
most people don't have problems with, especially men. Arms shrink back down
better and stretch less while gaining for a man than in women.
