Question:
5 days before surgery and Im sick!

Last thursday I woke up with a stuffy nose and then on saturday my throat started to hurt and I was feeling weak, so my pcp called in 875mg of augmentin 2/day my throat pain went away and Im still taking the med for 10 days,my cold is mild all in the nose, but now I went to the ER for a bad eye infection last night and have drops for that. Im freaking out anybody have advise? Im taking cold eese and 1000mg vit c and fluids all day anything else I can do?    — melindameyers (posted on August 22, 2005)

I would call the surgeon's office right away and talk to them maybe they can switch you with someone else to give you a few extra day if you need it. You certainly don't want to show up for surgery and then be sent home or have a complication from not being totally well. I got sick the week before my surgery and went on Z-Pak and was fine by the day before surgery so I hope the same for you I know this can really be disappointing to feel bad but don't put your health at risk....Nancy

I have to agree with Nancy, sometimes things happen for a reason. I got sick the week before surgery and it was the best thing for me. It really gave me the extra time to get ready. I have done wonderfully with my surgery. Listen to your body, let yourself get better first.
