Question:
I would like to see the open precedure done

I looked on line at the web pages that a couple of you sent me, and thank you for that info, but its hard to see on the computer so if anyone knows a TV program that shows the surgery soon please let me know . thanks Melinda    — melindameyers (posted on June 16, 2005)

I dont have a website for the open procedure:( But the intestinal rerouting etc is exactly the same. LAP or open is only a matter of access, small holes or a big incidsion. If your trying to decide LAP has less pain and faster recovery. The MAIN difference is about 1/3 of opens get a incisional hernia, LAP that rate is near ZERO. Incidently your pre op picture is beautiful, you are going to look awesome thin.

Hi Melinda! I just happened to come across your question & noticed you had Dr. Liem listed as your bariatric surgeon. Are you still planning on using him? I had my Open RNY w/ him back on 10/09/02 & although I did manage to lose almost -120 lbs, I never did make it to goal. I'd still like to lose @ least another 60-70 lbs & I haven't lost hardly anything since 13-14 mos post-op. I also have an incisional hernia now that's causing me pain occasionally & am looking into getting that repaired along w/ possibly a revision w/ another bariatric surgeon in South FL! I was going to go thru Dr. Liem again, but we've just found out that he's retiring from doing gastric bypass as of this Aug. 1st!
