Question:
In my quest to get back on track, what recommendations would
you be willing to say would give me a jump start? (No, not the tv story "Starting Over")I'm gaining weight by leaps and bounds!! Not because I'm not trying, but this involves a culmination of health issues ranging from thyroid levels, I can't seem to get in touch with my surgeon, I've not been attending any support groups (they are entirely too far away from where I live), I'm always fatigued, in spite of my drinking water, water, water, and taking my vitamins (sparingly I might add), not exercising due to the severe back pain and pain in my knees...seems like I'm into the old habits again. I've tried to eat by the clock like my surgeon says, but it just doesn't work for me. I'm ravenous by the that time. Almost like I'd bite my own arm off or growl at someone if I don't get to eat! Then, when I do eat, I'm rushing, or can't eat because my 'used-to-be-stomach hurts or because I'm nauseated. I'm tired of taking pills! I'm going to return to liquid vitamins, etc and call Vitalady!! She and several other on this site (they know who they are) havegently guided me through before. If you click on Library and just put my name in the blank area, you will see a good portion of my posts (but not all). PLEASE, I'm open for suggestions, not whining, but I could use ALL the help I can get. Thanks for putting up with me, everyone!~~Proximal LAP RNY wanting a revision or something!! I have noticed many of us who started a couple of years ago are starting to
struggle more with bad habits creeping back into our life. I recently put
on 15 lbs over the past 4-6 months. I will share what has worked for me to
get 10 of those pounds off again. EXERCISE. Find something, work through
the pain, just 30 minutes a day. I also have stayed in therapy since my
surgery (11/02). This web site is my support group, there are so many who
will never know how much they have helped me make this a positive journey-
to all of you thanks! This is not easy but being 300lbs was harder. I love
wearing size 8 like thin girls and do not want to give that up! Find what
works for you, get your mind motivated and work like hell to keep
motivated. I say this to myself a lot "my thin friends have to work
staying thin, why shouldn't I" Good luck in finding what works for
you, hope I have shared something that will help you, like others have
helped me. RNY 300/145/150

I'm not as far out as your are, but...I also struggle sometimes with being
hungry before it's time to eat. My surgeon wants us to do ONLY 3 meals a
day. I simply can't do this as I don't get in enough calories to continue
with weight loss. I've found that if I eat a high protein snack (cheese,
nuts, etc) between meals I do much better. This also helps with my being
hungry. I don't know what your diet is like, but add some good fat...olive
oil, butter, etc...back into your diet. Fat helps with feeling full.
Also, have you tried any online support groups besides this one? There are
2 really good ones at yahoo...Gastric_Bypass and Gastric_Bypass_Family...I
am in both of these groups and everyone is always sooooo supportive. Good
luck! Carmen

I have thyroid issues too and did research. I found out about wilson's
thyroid syndrome and had all the same issues discussed on his site,
fatigue, depression, dry skin, swelling in limbs etc even though my
synthroid and cytomel dosages were keeping my labs normal. I ordered 2
supplements from him and what a difference. My energy is back, the swelling
is gone, no real dry skin, brittle nails are doing better. My
endocrinologist will not consider his prescription drugs and my ins does
not cover a natropath sp? so I just take the over the counter stuff and
will keep on going. Now I am getting back on track with my food and am
starting over again per se.

You know, I really thank you all for responding, I had often wondered if
you have to be in a special group to get support or responses. WHen I ask
questions, it's because I'm interested in knowing how certain things affect
everyone else and how they are dealing with it. This website has been a
blessing to me. Just wanting to GET HELP with my jump start, but if I don't
get any more responses, it's okay today. I will say, what goes around,
comes around and someday, many who may feel they have it all together, will
ASK for help too. I have no hard feelings and wish everyone the best! Just
asking for help! Tha's what this site is for. No matter how long they are
post op. We learn something new every day, right? Thanks for responding.
