Question:
I posted this about 2 years ago before, and no one responded...
Has anyone followed "Pouch Rules for Dummies" to a *t*, and you still gained weight? Are there any of you that are honest enough to admit it or not? Do you think it's always true? What do you do now IF this is the case? Just interested in hearing from anyone with this experience. Thanks for taking the time to answer Proximal LAP RNY 9/3/02 5'2" 265/182/115-126, Hadiyah, a.k.a.~~ — yourdivaness (posted on May 17, 2005)

Hi Hadiyah! I read your other question as well darlin. My first question
to you would be have you had your mechanics checked to make sure everything
is in tact? Are you transected? It could very well NOT be your fault
darlin. After much research and meeting many, that proximals have a much
more difficult time with maintenance and in the end, absorb more. With that
being said, I don't agree with the Pouch rules and neither does my surgeon
but that is just me. But I have heard it works for some. Ultimately what
it boils down to is input verses output. Do you exercise? Do you drink
your water? Do you drink your protein drinks? This is a must if you want
to get the weight back off and maintain. My advice to you is back to
basics sweetie. Water Water Water, Protein Protein Protein, Exercise
Exercise Exercise. I hope this helps some girlie. Hugs..Erika

I have gone to my seminar and as far as your pouch goes, if you do not
follow the rules of "eating" and no drinking during meals, no
carbinated drinks and others, it is very possible for your pouch to expand
like it was before. We have started over with a pouch as small as when we
were babies, but is is POSSIBLE to stretch it, and therefore it takes more
to fill you up etc...and can start the weight gain process again. If you
are having these problems, the best thing you can do is go back to your
surgeon :)
