Question:
Tricare covering GBS Laparoscopic
I was in my surgeon's office last week and was talking with the lady that handles the insurance claims. She said that Tricare is starting to once again cover GBS Laparoscopic. I looked it up on their web site and they have taken the wording out about not covering it. Just wanted to pass this along. I do hope it is correct information. — jenafwife (posted on March 16, 2005)

Yesterday I had to have a upper EDG done and after my procedure my doctor
came in and told me that he had good news for me. He told me that a Tricare
rep had called their office letting them know that they had approved me for
the Lap RNY. Up until yesterday I was only approved for the Open RNY. I'm
so glad that Tricare has changed there policy.

Yeah!!!!!!! Finally! I bet they found out that it cost more to cover the
open than the Lap. It always comes down to money. I think it was B^!! S$!%
about not being a "proven procedure".

Yes, they do cover it. I have Tricare Prime and I had Lap RNY on 02/22.
So far all I've had to pay was the $25.00 copay to the hospital.
