I haven't any pictures of my scar. However, it looks great and is only 6 inches long. I had my open RNY only three months ago and can't get over how well it is fading.

Rebecca, You can see my incision with the stitches still intact - right before they came out. I had my surgery 2 plus years ago, and had an open BPD/DS. My surgeon does a horizontal cut. It was about halfway between my belly button and the bottom of my bra. But, sadly, my cute little scar went away with hernia repair/abdominoplasty 10 months post-DS. (Had a previous hernia from an emergency c-section 6 years prior to my DS.) Go to www.duodenalswitch.com, then click on Patients, then look for my name - Dina - and you'll be able to scroll down and see my photos. Also, my friend Malin has her scar posted over at www.bodybybaltasar.com, go to Photo Gallery, then choose her name - Malin - and you'll be able to see her scar at about 14 months post-op. She's a total cutie! Hope that helps! Blessings, dina

When considering open surgery. My surgeon says about 33% of opens get at least one incisional herna because the muscle wall is cut. LAP that risk is very near ZERO. Hernias occur even when the patient follows ALL the rules. For many thats more important than a scar.
