Question:
Anyone Dive with a hernia?

I will be 9 months post op when I go for my Scuba certification. I was reading the PADI Book and got worried about trapped air on the assend. I have a large abdominal hernia so far my intestines have not been trapped and I support the area to cough ect.. Has anyone dived with a hernia that was not repaired prior to their dive?    — jenafwife (posted on April 5, 2004)

perhaps talk to you doc. I am a certified diver and the equipment was too heavy for me pick up to dive with a hernia. I would never have been able to carry it, or get in & out of a dive boat.
