Usually when you turn in your info to the DR office, The doc has to dictate
a letter of medical necessity, it has to be typed and then faxed w/the info
to insurance. The insurance company should turn it around in 1 month max.(I
used to work medical review and that was the rule) Don't be afraid to call
the DRs office and find out exactly where it is and when it will be/was
submitted to insurance. GOOD LUCK

I would call the surgeons office to make sure they have everything they
need. My information was recieved except for one letter from my
pulomonologist. Had I not called I wouldn't have known they were waiting
for that as quickly as I did. I got that in right away and then followed
through by calling the insurance company a few days later as well as
registering with their website to track my pre auth. The insurance company
told me they hadn't received my information so I called the surgeon back
and found out that the insurance company had only received part of the
fax... no one would have known if I hadn't relayed that message to my
surgeons office. Once all my paperwork was officially received by the
insurance company it took 4 days to get my answer back.
