Question:
Food selection doesn't make any sense!
Had RNY 16 months ago. Still can't tolerate any meats, fish, eggs, bread, fruits or vegetables or protein drinks. All cause vomiting. Can tolerate beans, most cheese, angel hair pasta, popcorn, brothy soups and not much else, except for chocolate and some cookies. Some days the only things I can successfully eat are carbohydrates. They seem to have a calming effect on my stomach, much to my chagrin. Happy where I am: 300 to 220, but my diet is so limited, it's boring. Water is no problem at 70-80 oz a day. Does this sound familiar to anyone else? Thanks...MRG — marcia G. (posted on February 6, 2004)

What does your surgeon say about you not tolerating these foods so far post
op? Could you be eating too fast or too much? How about protein bars, sf
yogurt (has a little protein), tofu or nuts? Maybe you could find a
vegetarian or vegan cookbook for a variety of recipes.

Marcia, why no profile? I went there to see what happened when you tried
to eat the items you mention that you can't tolerate, how often you have
tried them, etc, etc, but NO profile...hard for us to help without more
info. Sigh. So if you have already tried these suggestions..have you
tried crock pot meats, like chicken that falls off the bone and soaked in
liquid and eat teeny tiny bites? Mushy veggies? Chocolate protein shakes
with a frozen banana in it? Toast with peanut butter?

Can you mix your protein powder in sugar free pudding? If you can't eat,
you will get unhealthy. I wouldn't worry about weight loss. I would worry
about illness.
