Question:
I wonder if I am having gall bladder pain or an ulcer
I am a two and a half year post op, and I am having terrible stomach pain. It only happens if I eat anything, as soon as I eat, I get this strange tightness kind of feeling in my actual stomach area.. and the pain is so bad, it radiates all the way through to my back... I haven't been able to eat for several days. Yes, I am going to my doctor asap, but don't know how quickly I can get in. I am just curious if anyone else has had this maybe from a gallbladder or ulcer type of problem.. I didn't have my gall bladder taken out with the wls... — Holly S. (posted on November 10, 2003)

I had this same thing at about 2 minths post op...I am 5.5 months post op
now. I thought for sure it was my gallbladder. My doc put me on zantac 2x a
day and I went through testing for an ulcer....nothing turned up and I did
stay on the zantac for 6 weeks. Nothing since. I will say that the very
moment that I took the Zantac the pain immediately went away. I can
remember being so desperate that on my way out the door of the drugstore I
took one out and just chewed it up....I could not bear the thought of
waiting until I got home in order to crush it....aaaahhhhhh instant relief.
Good luck!!

I've had both and the pains are similar. It could be many things, or both
things. You will just have to see your doctor to find our for sure. But
the way you have described the pain, is exactly the way both my galbladder
and ulcer felt.

I had to have my gallbladder out 10 months post op. But since then I've had
the pains you describe. They are worse than the gallblader pain ever was.
(Gallbladder never radiated to my back like this pain). I think mine is an
ulcer. Usually these attacks happen when I try to go to sleep. Then three
hours of excrusiating pain. Now when the pain starts I take a Nexium and it
goes away in a few minutes. So I'm thinking, ULCER. Only a doctor could
tell you for sure. But it sure sounds like an ulcer to me.
