Question:
Dr. says I should be on full proteins until day 21 post op. Is this common?

Do you mean full liquids?

Sherri, every doctor has their own policies as to what they want their
patients to consume when they are early post op. You can do nothing but
benefit from full proteins for 21 days. I wish that I was on full proteins
for my first days out of the hospital. My doctor's program, The Wish Center
had me on Boost and Ensure, 1 to 2 ounces every waking hour, in other words
liquids, I feel that I would have greatly benefitted from things like
blended cottage cheese or tuna, something that is high protein. Maybe my
hair would have not started thining out so soon. But, I am not a clinician
and they have gone to school for things like this. I would only question
his/her wisdom of what to consume for the first 21 days if it would have
been only water and fruit juices. Getting full proteins can only be a good
thing that early on.
