Hernia's should be covered without question. It's when people try to
combine them with tummy tucks they get into trouble. If you want to, try to
schedule a panni only with the hernia operation and offer to pay the
difference to the surgeon to get this necessary surgery done.
Unfortunately, insurance co's. don't recognize yet that excess skin becomes
a medical problem after this surgery.
Good Luck!

I had an open gastric bypass procedure in July of 2001 and required hernia
surgery in June of 2002. I had herniated all along my incision from the
Gastric bypass. Insurance covered the hernia surgery 100%. You will need
to check with your insurance carrier, as there have been a few insurance
companies that consider the hernia as a result of weight loss surgery a
pre-existing condition, and won't cover it. Chances are if you had no
problems getting your gastric bypass covered you won't have a problem
getting your hernia's repaired.
