Question:
Are you 5'2
pounds or more? I'd like to hear how you are progressing in your WLS journey. What type of surgery did you have? I had the LAP RNY, and don't feel that I'm losing as I should. I have to admit, once I confessed that I had a banana smoothie, and a bag of potato chips, but I have been a "good girl" since then. Would you mind sharing your post op menu for the past 6 months up to now and your current weight? What do you consider has been the primary reason(s) you are having the success you've had to this date? I realize these are *loaded* questions, but I had to ask these while they were on my mind, or I'd foget. If you chose not to respond here, I don't mind if you email me privately. Thanks for your responses!! Luv, {{HUGS}} and Prayers ;=) LAP RNY 9/3/03 265/158/115-126 Hadiyah, a.k.a. — yourdivaness (posted on June 10, 2003)

Hey Hadiyah! I started out at 5'2 and weighed 254lbs the morning of
surgery on 11/15/02. I am currently 188lbs but wearing size 16 jeans and
an XL in tops. I recently met with my surgeon for my 6-month follow-up and
he's altered the goal weight to be 175lbs, for his goal anyway! Me, I will
be very happy in a size 12, whatever the weight may be... My post-op menu
is as follows...
7:30am - 30 gram protein supplement
10:00am - First meal of the day (normally protein only)
1:30pm - Mid-Day meal (protein and a non-starchy vegetable)
6:30pm - Evening meal (protein and a non-starchy vegetable)
9:30pm - Evening snack (Blue Bunny sugar-free non-fat yoguart, sugar-free
jello, or sugar-free frozen fudge bar)
I average between 85 and 100 grams of protein per day with around 100
ounces of water. I'm very happy with my loss so far, even though I had a
VERY slow start. I think the most important things to do are protein,
water and exercise. I hope this is helpful to you, but if you have any
questions, feel free to e-mail me! Hugs!!!

Hi, I am 5'1 and started at 243. I am 7 months post op and have lost 84
pounds which puts me at 158 pounds now. I am in a size 10-12 and feel
great. I have to admit at first I doubted that I would get even this far
because I seemed to be losing so slow but my doc said to hang in there and
it is working. I am still losing slow but I am losing. He says that I
will continue to lose for a few more months but I am happy even where I am
now. I had open RNY Distal with Dr. Sanderfer in Corona, California.

Hi, I was 212lbs. the day of surgery and at 10 months out weigh 119lbs. My
goal is to be 108lbs. I am a vegetarian so my diet is different from most.
I drink a protein drink every day and eat every 2-3 hours. Good luck!

I was and currently am 5'0". My weight was 230 the day of surgery
08/28/01. By Christmas I was down 68 lbs and feeling wonderful. By
06/28/02 (10 mo postop) I was down 95 lbs. Don't fret about being a
"slow loser". Just remember that the weight may have came on
overnight, but it won't fall off overnight. Just make sure to follow your
Dr. recommendations (if he/she has one) and it'll happen. I am a 60"
distal RNY and currently take in about 4-6 protein shakes a day along with
my vitamin supplements. My daily menu now consists of 4-6 protein shakes a
day (www.vitalady.com), an occasional banana in the mornings, light dinner
in the evenings consisting of BBQ'd fish, chicken, or venison. I hope this
helps. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me and
also check out my profile. I have not updated it in awhile, but once I'm
done with my final, I'll get an updated photo also.

Although my surgery isn't until the 1st of July I, I am interested in the
answer. I am exactly 5'2" and 265#. I hope to get down to at least
150# or a size 10 whichever comes first, lol.

I'm 7 weeks out. I had open rny on 4/24/03, and am down 35 lbs as of last
weigh in. I'm a little disappointed as I've seen people opsting and in my
support group that have lost 2x as much as I have at this far out, but I
look at it this way. 1) It's 35 lbs that are GONE!!!! {and good
RIDDANCE!!!} 2) When you loose slower, your skin tone improves and you are
less likely to require an "ectomy" of one sort or another, 3)
Slow and steady wins the race. Slower weight loss, (and I hope no one gets
offended at this) at least according to some of the doctors I've talked to,
will result in better long term possibility of keeping it off and 4) Every
one looses at a different rate. Yes, I've cheeted once or twice (and usualy
got sick from it), but I'm working on improving my eating habits (from a
bag full of chips to 2 pieces), or from 2/3rds of a pie to 1 or 2 small
bites. If I see someithing I want, I have a bite and chew very slowly to
enjoy the tase.

Original Poster Here: I just want to say “Thank You”
to ALL of you, for taking the time to respond to my question(s).
Oftentimes, I’m so busy reading and responding to others, that
I’m unable to get back to my own posts. I try to make time for
others just as others have taken time for me both pre and post-operatively.
You clicked on and shared your knowledge, when you could have simply moved
on to the next question(s) from others. I appreciate you! Luv, Prayers and
