Question:
Strange...do your feet lose weight too?
All of the changes going on with my body post op LAP RNY is really strange to me. I had WLS 38 weks ago, and I know it sounds silly, but I never realized my *feet* would go through changes too! Anyone else experience these strange happenings? I'm 5'2"...Hadiyah — yourdivaness (posted on May 29, 2003)

I went from a size 10 wide pre-op and am now at a 9 regular. Trying to
find shoes is so much easier now. I also don't understand how our feet
shrink or change size. One of the unexpected surprises of wls! Hugs, Kim

Yes you lose weight in your feet too. I had a couple pairs of shoes from
when I lost weight before on the Atkins diet. Well after putting all the
weight back on and then some, those shoes would not fit. Now that I have
lost 55 lbs., they fit and they are loose on me. Loving it!!! Hey my feet
are starting to look nice in sandals.

Hi Diva- When I lost 22 lbs doing Atkins, my feet went from size 8 1/2 wide
to 7 1/2 wide. When I gained the weight back (and then some), my shoe size
was 8 1/2 again :o(

That was the last place I expected to find changes as well! LOL After
losing 125#, I went from a 9 to an 8 and I now fit back into all those cute
strappy shoes I wore in high school! yay :-)

Besides my feet I have found that my rings and wrist watch band are too
big. I am just 3+ wks post and I have already had to put my watch on the
next smaller notch of the band. I also have a medical stretchy band
bracelet and it has gotten big on me already. I am down 24# since my
surgery on May 7, 2003.

thats one of the first things I noticed only a week post-op. I had to
tighten my sandals!!! But, remember, right away youre losing excess water
weight and thats where it tends to collect, the end of the extremities like
the ankles,feet,fingers,wrists, etc...........

Yep, down 1/2 to a whole shoe size. I can wear my original wedding band
again - first time in years! And I can put it on and take it off easily.
My husband is about 7 weeks post op and had to buy a new pair of shoes
before he went back to work - his old ones were just too big.

I was talking with my "fashion-consultant" friend yesterday, and
I mentioned that I now had only two pairs of shoes that I could wear to
work--and both are black in color. Everything else has gotten too big.
She was horrified at the thought of me having only two pairs of shoes for
work, and in a winter color (gasp!) We made a date to go shoe shopping.
There's been some discussion about holding a memorial service for all of
those beautiful shoes in my closet that I can no longer wear...

Its sooooo disheartening... a small price to pay.. but none of my old shoes
fit.. and my gait has changed.. so even if they weren't too big.. some of
them wouldn't be comfortable... I've lost a half size for sure.. and I'm
approaching a whole size in some shoes... its.. well, it is a small price
to pay.. but I have so many shoes that I won't be wearing this winter. I
do put some padding in some of them.

Jens feet were always triple X wide. So sad no heels fit. With the weight
loss her feet are smaller, and she bought a pair of 3.5 inch heels for her
brothers wedding. I am thrilled to see her in heels, now if they were
stilletos:( We both lost shoe size ands width.

This was one of the first things I noticed with my weight loss and
returning to work. I flop around all over the place now...lol Maybe we
should start sponsoring a Shoe Exchange in addition to our Clothing
Exchanges? LOL =)
