Question:
Any comments on the clear protein drinks with the taste and consistency of kool-aid
I am preop and have tasted some of the traditional protein drinks, the thicker blender types. I would like to know if anyone here likes the kool-aid ones. What is Nectar like? — mary ann T. (posted on May 8, 2003)

28 more days to go for me! I am stocking up on Isopure Zero Carbs. Six
fruit flavors and they are not too sweet . . 40 grams of protien in 20 oz.
I get mine at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. Good Luck! Michele :)

I tried the Designer Whey Protein Blasts...they are VERY tangy...I like the
Absberry the best and add it to any strawberry/raspberry protein drink I
make (gives it a kick but on its own it seems too harsh). I keep meaning
to try the nectars.

I tried both the Designer Whey Blasts (grape and absberry) and the
Carribean Cooler Nectar, and all 3 made me gag. Even the smell made me
sick!!! I am waiting for some drinks from Bariatrix that supposedly taste
like orange juice (you can get them at www.i-shophere.biz) with 70 cals
and 15g whey protein for each packet. We'll see. I sure hope I like
them!

Just a quick tip for fresh post-ops: You can make popsicles out of some of
these clear, fruit-flavored, bottled protein drinks. I did that in my
early post-op days, when I was on clear liquids (and popsicles seemed
easier to get down sometimes than liquids). Having said that, I didn't
care for the taste of them (and wound up using a different kind of protein
shake powder in the long run), but I hear there are some new ones out that
might be better. :-D

I'm 2 weeks out, and use isopure. you can find it at gnc. it is a little
expensive. 20 oz's are about 3.59. it tasts like sour gatoraide. I put a
packet of splenda in it to sweeten the taste a little. you can also freeze
it well too.

I got my stuff today -- the orange pineapple tastes kind of like Tang, and
it's GOOD! Wow, I was so hoping I wouldn't gag. It would make good
popsicles, too. It's called Proti 15, and is made by Bariatrix. A box of
7 servings costs $12, but if you get 2 boxes it's $18.

I really love the Designer Whey Protein Blast drinks - especially the
grape. However, my friend hates them with a passion. So everyone is
different and you just have to experiment. Seems like the
individually-bottled fruit drinks are a bit pricey, but worth it if they
help you get in the oh-so-important protein. Best of luck to you.

I did the Isopure zero carb drinks that look like Koolaid as a new post-op.
Glass bottles-20 oz, 40 grams of protein. I had to have them over ice and
cut them in 1/2 with water and sipped on them all day long to getthem in
but it was a good way to get in protein during the liquid phase.
