Question:
Did anyone have an indentation surrounding one of their incisions?
I had my lap RNY last Friday (2/21/03). The incision near my left ribcage is indented. It looks like I have a dent in my tummy. I think this is the incision where my surgeon did the most work. Did anyone else have a similar incision? If so, how did it heal? I'm hoping that it will become less noticeable with weight loss. I don't see my surgeon until next week, so any info. you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Tonya — Tonya B. (posted on February 28, 2003)

Yes, my 7 year old calls them eyeballs. All of mine did this, I had
surgery on the 5th & 6th of Feb, and all but one are back to normal.

I have the same thing with mine as I lose more weight. You are right that
they will become less noticable and won't be indented when you lose your
weight. The worst one for me is the top one too where the camera was. I
asked the doctor and he confirmed all of this info. Good Luck and
congratulations!!! :)

I had my surgery Jan 8, and yes my left incision that he did most of the
work is was wayyyyy indented, in fact while I was in the hospital when the
nurses came to change the dressing they panicked. And 2 of my support group
friends were across the hall, they had their surgery the day before, and
the nurses kept saying they do not look like this something is WRONG! With
the help of morphine I had no clue what it was supposed to look like, but
the doc came in, and looked at it and said "sometimes this
happens" yes he was just full of info..lol Mine was so severely dented
in it looked like a mini-tummy tuck. It is still dented in 50 pounds later
but not nearly as bad, now it just looks like ummmm a small belly button. I
did end up with some major muscle spasms about 2 weeks out the doc said it
was from that incision, put me on muscle relaxers and they went away. Good
luck to you.

Hi, I had the same "problem". The incision on my left side where
the instruments are taken in and out the most was really much bigger than
the others and looked all puckered and like on of the other posters said
like a tiny Tummy tuck type look. It looked like they sewed it too tight.
As I have lost it has evened out and looks flat like the others it was
probably 2ish inches, maybe less, after surgery now at 7 months it is only
1/2 inch.
I had major muscle spasms at this sight and the thing that helped the most
was to get up and "walk it off". I was in a ton of pain and
didn't want to move but in hind sight the thing that helped the most was
the stretch of being upright and moving. Good Luck and Congratulations!
