Question:
What can I do now that I no longer have much taste for meats
like chicken and beef? Beef is REALLY out of the question. What other sources can I use? Can a reasonable amount of protein be obtained from veggies? — yourdivaness (posted on February 20, 2003)

There are alot of foods that have protein that you can eat instead of meat,
you might want to go on-line and put in protein foods. Some that I can
think of right off the top of my head are, fish that is not fried or
breaded, tuna fish, eggs, beans, I have use red kidney beans inplace of
meat, soyburgers, shrimp, ham, chicken salad might be a sub for eating
chicken, which sometimes tends to be dry. lowfat turkey hot dogs, and maybe
liver, hope this helps.

I don't tolerate meats well at all and can't stand the taste of most but
here are some that I do OK with:
Very finely chopped ground chuck (not beef), fish, franks,
cottage cheese, other cheeses, tamales, tuna, turkey breast, eggs and etc.
I'm no expert but I don't think you could eat enough veggies to ever get
near enough protein. You may buy some protein powder and sprinkle on them
to add some extra protein. Just try different things with your foods,
because I have found that if you prepare it in a way that it will be really
moist it is ALOT easier to tolerate. GOOD LUCK!

Im 4 months out and have just begun to tolerate meats(that is I quit
throwing up when I ate them). Try sauces like a tablespoon of BBQ, maybe
some lowfat italian or ranch dressing....Also before cooking you could
marinate your meat. You could also use garlic powder and any number of the
bottles of meat spices...KC Masterpiece makes a yummy Kansas City steak
flavor....These things have made a huge difference for me...and my famly
has started getting into it too. I dont do bars or shakes so this was the
easiest alternative...
