Question:
I am experiencing nightsweats. Is this normal for 15 month post op patient?
My family doctor recently took me off prempro. I had wls surgery in October 2001, I have lost 158 lbs; I now weigh 144. Just about every night I have night sweats - my gown even gets very damp. The doctor has me on "Evista" now. I have been off prempro about 5 months. Anybody experiencing this problem? — sudio45 (posted on January 8, 2003)

It is probably harmone related. I am 53 and after my hysteroctomy 7 yrs ago
I started having night sweats all the time. My dr put me on estratest and
they stopped in about 1 month. I started getting fiberous tissue in my
breast so I stopped taking it. I don't know if it was related but didn't
want to chance it. Well the night sweats cane back after awhile but I am
just dealing with it.

I use a hormone cream called Ostaderm. It controls my hot flashes and
nightsweats. I buy it online from askdrhelen.com

Hi,
I just started Evista last week after being weaned off prempro. The
doctor told me that the Evista would address all that the prempro did
EXCEPT the sweats or flashes. I have been pretty lucky and have been able
to manage whatever flashes I have gotten so far. However, I never was in a
natural menopause state. I had both ovaries removed due to multiple cysts,
the first in 93 and the second in 2000. I was on the pill before this with
no signs of menopause, so the doctor felt I needed something. Anyway, I
have a strong feeling that your sweats are menopause related, and due to
the Evista not addressing that aspect of it.
