Question:
I think AMOS should have a recipe section....

I know some people post recipes on the message board (and occasionally in Q & A), but after seeing all the response to the deviled eggs and brownie questions, I think it would be neat to have a section devoted entirely to WLS-friendly recipes. I would be the first to post some of my favorites. What do you think, moderators and AMOS members?    — rebeccamayhew (posted on January 2, 2003)

I could sure use a place like that. I don't have many recipes to contribute, but I would love to find some good ones. Thanks for posting this idea! Mary Beth

Good suggestion, Rebecca! Why don't you separately E-mail the moderators and suggest it? It could have sections for main courses, desserts (sugar free of course), and even protein drinks(lots of us have great recipes for doctoring our shakes!).

That is the best idea I've heard all year! I'm so tired of eating the same, boring, foods. I need help in the food area and a recipe section would make my life easier!

I think that is a GREAT idea!!!! I have been following the Q&A's as I research and prepare for possible WLS. (Have an appt. this month for consultation.) Think this would add a very needed and worthwhile section to the website. I know I would surely use it as I prepare for my journey.

I have about 4-5 recipes using protein cooking powder (lots of trial and error before I found the right combo) that I would be happy to post if we had a recipe section. Good idea!!

I was reading through the posts on AMOS and wanted to respond to you post about someone wanting recipes. Whenever I see a post about recipes or sweets, I always post a quick response. You can check out my profile page, which is Lynette B. or go to: www.freewebs.com/recipes-after-rny for sample recipes, photos, and ordering information for a great recipe book. If you have any questions let me know, or if there is a specific recipe you're looking for, let me know, and if I have it, I'll email it to you. I think a spot on AMOS to post this stuff so that it is readily available to everyone would be GREAT!

This is a wonderful idea! I've been on the internet looking desperately for recipies my family will like that I can eat as well. I'm so tired of eating the same old thing and making two meals (one for them and one for me). I've found a few good ones to contribute. (6 weeks post op: down 35 pounds)

I think it's an awesome idea. I'm an executive chef, and would love to contribute recipe, ideas, or techniques that could enhance our dinning pleasure. Since, I haven't had the surgery yet, I'm trying to already visualize what I will be having with a "kicked-up" , petite, protein packed version of foods. Being creative and adding excitement to my 2ozs of food will be my goal. The little amount that I will be eating, will be lip smacking and tantalizing to the palate. Fatty foods are not the only things that taste good.... Healthy foods and being health conscience will be a life time commitment, but it will not be boring.... Reach for the stars.

Wonderful idea, but I have an alternative idea - So Fat, Low Fat, No Fat cookbooks by Betty Rhodes (found in Kmart and most book stores) - excellent, easy low fat recipes. Easy to follow and my husband loves everything I have cooked from them. It has made our life easy to cut the fat. She tells her weight loss story between the sections and has 5-6 different ones, has Italian, Mexican, desserts and her 2 original books.
