Question:
Calling all Chicagoans having had a massive abdomnioplasty

I am in desperate need of reconstructing my belly, I have about 35 to 50 pounds of stomach to be removed and I need your help in finding a surgeon that has experience in such a large pan to be removed. I have called about 30 doctors, but none has removed such a large pan and my doctor where I had my surgery gave me a few but the appointments are out until June of next year and I want it done way sooner. Please help. I will go to Indiana to have the surgery if I have to or any surrounding states around Illinois or towns    — tina T. (posted on November 20, 2002)

hi there tina :) im in illinois. im west of aurora out here in earlville. i had open rny on feb 8 02 at delnor hospital in geneva. my surgeons name is doctor paul batty and he is such a nice and excellent surgeon. he has done tts before and he knows ill be needing one someday in the future as well. im not sure how big of a pan he has removed but if this helps, i am 5 9 and weighed 370 to start, i carried alot of my excess weight in the tummy area and he didnt have any reservations about doing a tt on me someday. i think hes worth checking into. he has offices both in geneva and elgin. tell him carrie sent ya! hehe :) i wish you the best of luck :)

Hi, I had Dr. Aly do a belt lipectomy on me. He is at the University of Iowa, in Iowa City. I live in Ottawa Illinois, about 2 hours west of Chicago, just off of Rt.80, so I had to travel almost 3 hours to see him. It was worth every bit of it. He removed 25 lbs. of skin and did a wonderful job. I really think one should see a reconstructive /cosmetic surgeon for the removal of skin.(just my personal opinion) A friend had hers done by a Dr. who is doing RNY's. She is going next month to see Dr. Aly to see if he can re-do it. The # is 319-356-2902

Hi Tina, I haven't had mine yet but will be having it done the day before Thanksgiving. My surgeon says he will be removing at least 40 pounds of skin maybe more. He is the same doc that did my open rny a year ago. My docs name is Kenneth Printen in Evanston, many years of surgical experience.
