Hi there,
Please take a look at my profile regarding Cigna. I have Cigna PPO and I
know that each division is different. My Co-morbidities are sleep apnea and
asthma. I don't have any of the ones that you talked about. The biggest
thing... get them a letter of medical necessity. Have you been checked for
sleep apnea? Will your general doc write a letter stating that WLS is
recommended? I will help you deal with Cigna, they are a pain. Just let me
know!

I concur with Laurey when saying each divisions are different. I am in
Orlando, FL. Check out my profile regarding Cigna. My BMI is 40 with no
Co-morbidities. I think the only thing I had going was supervised weight
loss attempts since 1997. I also added in my letter that "I never
said I couldn't loose the weight, maintaing the weight has always been the
problem." I think that statement is important to make to insurance
companies letting them know that you can loose the weight but maintaing has
been your problem over the years. I find also, that allot of people
wanting the surgery try to find things wrong with them to plead their case
to the insurance company with more documentation than necessary. More
documentation is not always better..... Email me if you want copies of
letters I submitted to Cigna.
Hang in there.
